Propane Service From the Tohono O’odham Utility Authority

Propane is a versatile fuel that can power many appliances, from water heaters to barbecues. In some cases, a propane generator can power an entire house. Tohono O’odham Nation residents or businesses that use propane can sign up for propane service from the Tohono O’odham Utility Authority. Once you’ve created an account, we’ll fill your propane tank when you request a delivery. We recommend scheduling delivery once your tank reaches 20%. How to Establish Propane Service With TOUA

Residents who would like to set up new service with TOUA on property assigned to them must be 18 years old, and proof of age must be verified with identification such as a driver’s license, tribal identification, or a social security card. Applicant must also submit a district resolution that gives TOUA permission to provide ALL utility services. If you are requesting propane service on land that is assigned to someone else, you’ll need to submit a notarized letter from the named land assignee that gives you permission to establish utility services with TOUA. A signed contract and deposit fee must be paid before the service is supplied.

The customer is required to have a service line installed at their own expense. The service line must pass a pressure test conducted by TOUA. Specification sheets for a service line install are available in our office. Existing TOUA customers who haven’t used a service line for a year or more must have the service line inspected to ensure it meets safety requirements.

Ordering a Propane Delivery

Please note we only deliver propane to established customers who have current accounts using their own or TOUA tanks. We recommend scheduling a propane delivery when your tank falls to 20% full. A day or two before your area’s scheduled delivery day, call us at (520) 383-8536 to schedule a propane delivery. This gives us sufficient time to deliver your propane before the tank is empty. Please check the delivery schedule below to find your delivery day. We’ve also included a chart to help determine when your tank is at 20%.

For a safe propane delivery to your home. Please have the gates open, have a clear path to your propane tank, and have all dogs restrained as needed.

Costs and Fees for Propane Services From TOUA

Propane costs are $4.00/gallon currently, but are subject to change in accordance with market fluctuations. After a customer has had service with us for a year, they can elect to use our budget plan, which allows customers to pay a set amount based on the previous year’s usage. This provides an average monthly cost that’s more affordable than paying the entire amount for each delivery. Customers on a will-call or COD (all cash on delivery) basis must pre-pay for propane. *IISD was previously called Same Day Delivery Fee. **Tampering fees are charged if a customer connects or disconnects anything to TOUA propane equipment. Do not attach small BBQ propane bottles to TOUA equipment, as they will cause damage. ***Applied to your account after 12 months of on-time payments. Deposits are determined by the cost of one minimum order of propane, currently 50 gallons at $4.00/gallon.
