Telephone

TOUA Telephone has been in service since September 1987, over 21 years. Technology has made a difference in our service. The Telephone Department has progressed with technology to provide the best quality. Copper wire has been updated to fiber to provide faster service from one location to another. Cellular offers phone service on the go. Advanced features like Caller ID, which allow you to know who is calling before you answer the phone. AT&T is no longer the exclusive long distance service; more carriers are serving this area and offering different types of calling plans. Internet service has changed from dial-up service to DSL, which is 20 times faster and offers the advantage of continuous connection, which means you don’t have to wait to log on. Now you can use the phone and DSL at the same time; you no longer have to purchase a separate line.

  • Caller ID identifies callers before you pick up the phone. With Caller ID, you are able to see the number of the person calling you before you answer the phone. Just connect your Caller ID box to your phone, or if you have a phone featuring Caller ID, it will simply activate. No dialing instructions needed.

  • Call Block allows you to block 8 numbers. Block selected numbers ahead of time or block unwanted calls. In either case, the caller is routed to a recorded message and your phone does not ring.

  • Distinctive Ringing allows you to create a list of up to 8 numbers. When someone on your list calls you, you will be notified by a special ring to let you know it is an important caller. Other non-priority calls receive the usual ring tone.
